Fort Bovisand Underwater Center, Plymouth, offers a number of courses for divers wishing to train up faster than may be achieved at a local club.  In 1976 Nelson achieved his Class 3 qualification.

  Live in courses mean a trainee may concentrate on the matter at hand.  Margaret Rule, and archaeologist attached to the Mary Rose project, trained at Fort Bovisand.  A number of divers graduating at that time joined her as volunteers in surveying and other tasks related to the recovery of Henry VIII's magnificent warship.
